David Alexander Gray (born January 7, 1943 in Ogden, Utah) is a former pitcher in Major League Baseball who played briefly for the Boston Red Sox during the 1964 season. Listed at 6' 1", 190 lb., he batted and threw right-handed.
Gray was signed by the Red Sox out of the Weber State University. In nine appearances, he posted a 9.00 ERA with 17 strikeouts in 13.0 innings of work, including one start and six games finished. He did not have a decision.
Dave Gray is one of only a few major leaguers to have a lifetime 1.000 batting average. On June 20, 1964, Dave Gray singled off of Milt Pappas of the Baltimore Orioles in the seventh inning of the game between the Orioles and the Boston Red Sox. It was Gray's only major league at bat.
